When I was still in college, I read from a medical book that it is advisable not to drink cold water when you are having a heavy meal. The cold water freezes up the fats in the food you are digesting and it is not good for the body. It was further said that drinking lukewarm tea is better. Since I love the taste of green tea, I gave up all carbonated drinks like soda and stock up some green tea extracts at home.
